Platform: Mobile

Background

For the longest time, the Shareworks mobile app was a place for users to glance at their portfolios. It does support some transacting functionalities, but because it's not on par with the web, thus users tend to prefer going on the website to complete more complex tasks. For example, one of the most popular tasks in Shareworks is accepting a grant of stock options or restricted shares units (RSUs). This could happen yearly or even monthly.

The users

The user

The user

For the project, the users are the employees or shareholders at companies that grant equity.

The problems we're trying to solve

Many users use the app exclusively (no access to a desktop or laptop), and without accepting their grants, they risk missing out on them or being engaged with their equity.

Business, product, and user goals

  1. Business: drive engagement for users who are granted equity
  2. Product: enable users to accept their grants in the mobile app
  3. User: be able to accept a grant in the mobile app without having to go to the web

Design

Like most Shareworks web applications, the user interface is usually outdated and designed by product managers, business people, and engineers. Unfortunately, this grant acceptance flow wasn't an exception.

Grant acceptance experience on the web

Grant acceptance experience on the web

There are a few problems with the existing functionality on the web:

  1. First, the users are greeted with a chunk of legal text that they will not likely read.
  2. The value of their grant, which is arguably very important, is not very prominent.
